| By the age of 14 Priya was already teaching at Mahila College, Lucknow, having gained her Nritya Vishard at the age of 10. She has been teaching throughout most of her career as a dancer.Currently she holds regular classes in Kathak and Odissi in West London. |

| Priya was the first Odissi guru to make an impact with the teaching of Odissi in the UK and over the years her students have represented the Odissi style in a large number of functions. Two of her students were awarded Aditi scholarships (Bina Patel in 1992 and Isha Persad in 1993). |
